Call to Schedule

A private buyer of gold, silver, and the things families keep. We are not a pawn shop, and not a kiosk at a strip mall. We are a quiet, appointment-only desk where collectors and estate families bring precious metals, coins, and jewelry to be valued fairly — by people who have done it for three generations.

The Difference

Discretion is not a courtesy here.
It is the standard.

Every appointment is private. Every valuation is explained. No pressure, no theater — just an honest figure from someone who knows the difference between what a thing is and what it's worth.

Our Story

Three generations.
One understanding.

Some things are worth keeping.

Their grandfather opened his jewelry shop in Sumter, South Carolina in the mid 1900s — a jeweler's loupe, a steady hand, and the belief that gold didn't lie. Through the years that followed, he built a reputation across the Southeast as a man who knew what things were worth — and said so plainly.

That shop closed. What he taught did not.

Decades later, his grandsons John and Marshall Benton returned to what the family always understood: that precious metals hold value when paper does not, and that trust between buyer and seller is the only currency worth more. Today, Carolina Heritage Reserve operates quietly by appointment — serving collectors, estate families, and individuals who want a transaction done right.

We are the third chapter of something that began before most of our clients were born.

The Craft

A trained eye,
not a scale alone.

Anyone can weigh metal. Knowing a date, a mint, a maker — knowing when a piece is worth far more than its melt — is the difference three generations buys you. Every item is examined properly, and you are told plainly what it is.
